Open Rehearsal

Join us for an evening of 'West Gallery' music, from a time when English churches had groups of singers with instrumentalists rather than organs ('quires' as Thomas Hardy called them). We sing catches and glees as well as church music, just as our forebears did. Singers don't need to read music, we learn everything as we go with the instruments playing the voice parts. Players of orchestral instruments (woodwind or string) at around grade 5 are very welcome, or if you're a brass player, you could try out our Ophicleïde! Please get in touch to let us know you're coming to this free event and we'll have music ready for you!
